Reptiles and Amphibians

Türkiye is a very rich country in terms of reptiles and amphibians, with 180 species currently living in Türkiye, 145 of which are reptiles and 35 are amphibians. 19 of the amphibians are salamanders, 16 are frogs. Of the reptiles, 71 are snakes, 60 are lizards, 11 are turtles, and 3 are from the blind worm family. The endemism rate of reptiles and amphibians are also high, with 22 of 180 reptile species and 12 of 35 amphibian’s species endemic to Türkiye.
